JABBERWOCK 2024
WILSON ALUMNAE CHAPTER PRESENTS

Celebrating the

POWER

of Excellence

Jabberwock contest is a national signature cultural and scholarship fundraising event hosted by local chapters of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  This competition is a fun, enriching, and fiscally responsible way for participants to not only think about and plan their future educational pursuits, but also work toward achieving those end goals.  The contest’s purpose is to raise funds for scholarships and other charitable activities supported by the sorority. These scholarship funds, raised during the event, are awarded to the winners and distributed to deserving students in the Wilson community through the Ruth J. Brown Scholarship and Jual P. Anderson Awards.

The term “Jabberwock” is derived from the Lewis Carroll poem “Jabberwocky” in Through the Looking-Glass, though Delta Sigma Theta’s use of it is tied to the concept of helping young people to “slay the Jabberwock”  — symbolizing overcoming challenges through education, talent, and personal growth.

Why I want to participate in Jabberwock?

The Jabberwock is a scholarship program for youth to raise money through various fundraising activities ranging from baked goods to car washes. It allows students to prepare for their futures from elementary school all the way up to high school. With this program, we can boost our futures by ensuring that we can pay for our future academic pursuits.
